As it turns out, if you have a renewable
energy system, each kilowatt-hour you
generate adds to the pool of available
renewable energy certificates.
Currently, at least one organization,
Massachusetts Energy Consumer Alliance (a
not-for-profit organization), will pay you
$.06 per kilowatt-hour generated via solar
photovoltaic systems or $.03 per
kilowatt-hour generated via wind energy
provided you agree to a three-year contract
with them. Among other things, the contract
stipulates that you must report your
electrical generation to them (or through the
Renewable Energy Trust (RET) if you receive a
RET grant).
Massachusetts Energy Consumer Alliance
aggregates the RECs from small suppliers like
you and sells them on the REC market. Click

Recently a friend introduced me to Shaklee
cleaning products. I like them for lots of
reasons. Most importantly, all of Shaklee's
products
are safe for you and safe for the environment.
Take a moment and check out their web
site.
I'm particularly impressed with their
dishwasher detergent. It has no phosphates,
you use only four teaspoons (yes teaspoons)
per load, and it does a great job. In fact it
is better than two other brands of
zero-phosphate detergent I've used. (And it's
as effective as high phosphate Cascade)

Turn off the lights, turn down the heat, unplug unnecessary appliances, add insulation, take shorter showers, walk instead of drive, group your errands, inflate your tires, grow your own food, eat locally-produced food, recycle, use your most efficient vehicle, wash your clothes in cold water, use a clothesline instead of the Dryer, install a renewable energy system...
Thanks for Reading the Energy Miser,
