Meet Bill Carr. Bill and I have known each
other for years through our coaching in
Hudson Youth Soccer and have been active
together in the Hudson
Area Climate Action Network.
About three months ago, I realized I needed
help. At about the same time, Bill Carr
realized that the corporate world was
not providing him with the right kind of
challenges.
Since late June, Bill has been working with
me daily at New England Breeze. It is a great
partnership. Bill brings a strong engineering
background and careful attention to detail to
his role as Systems Design Engineer.
Join me in welcoming Bill to the firm. He can
be reached at bill [at newenglandbreeze [dot com.

In the Cool idea to help the planet
department....
NPR listeners probably heard
the story about a "starving" writer
trying to save some money. To cut down on her
paper usage, she decided to narrow the
margins on her printed documents. Then she
learned that it actually made a difference.
As it turns out, the paper industry is one of
the larger producers of greenhouse gases and
pollutants. Not to mention the amount of
energy they use to produce all that paper. By
setting narrower margins, you use less paper.
If you multiply that savings by all of us, it
adds up to some substantial numbers.
Changing your printer margins is a small step
but it has real impact. Read more at ChangeTheMargins.com
Who will complain about this change? The
paper industry and my teenagers. When I
described the margin change to my son
Russell, he indicated that it would mean he
would have to do more writing to fill a page.
(Starting today, all of New England Breeze's
printed documents will have 3/4" or smaller
margins.)

We've just completed a solar system in Acton.
You can see more pictures and a detailed
description of the system here.
The system:

Turn off the lights, turn up the air conditioner temperature, use a fan, unplug unnecessary appliances, add insulation, take shorter showers, walk instead of drive, group your errands, inflate your tires, grow your own food, eat locally-produced food, recycle, use your most efficient vehicle, get a hybrid vehicle, wash your clothes in cold water, use a clothesline instead of the dryer, print with narrower margins, use both sides of the page, compost, install a renewable energy system...
Thanks for Reading the Energy Miser,
