Solar Electric (Photovoltaics) - How It Works

Residential Solar PV Array and Inverter

Use the sun's energy to produce clean and reliable electricity for your home and lower your electric bill. Lock in your electrical rate today while you do your part to save the planet. Solar power systems aren't just practical, they can be downright affordable in Massachusetts.

  1. Solar panels are mounted facing as close to south facing as possible. The panels can be mounted on a southerly facing roof or in the yard. The most important part is that there is little to no shade on the panels for most of each day throughout the year.
  2. We place an inverter in the home, near the main breaker panel.
  3. When the sun is shining, you'll be producing clean electricity! Anytime you are producing more electricity then you use, it will feed directly back to the utility grid and spin your meter backwards.
  4. At night or when it is not sunny, your electricity will come right from the grid as normal. Your electrical bill will reflect the difference between the electricity you use and what you produce.
