Turbine
Options from New England Breeze, LLC
Looking for a specific Turbine? We now offer several options from small
battery charging units to large home or small business scale turbines.
All prices are Turbine
only and do not include, footing(s), tower or installation.
For a comparison of turbine production under consistent conditions,

The Southwest Windpower offers Skystream 3.7. Skystream is a new design
that incorporates the inverter in the nacelle. The Skystream
makes small wind affordable for anyone. At $5,400 for
1.8 kilowatts (kw) and several affordable monopole options (34', 45',
60', and Tec-wind's 50') you could have a turbine in your own back yard. See more here.
Southwest also offers the 1000, 2000, and 3000 watt DC Whisper
series for off-grid battery systems and the 400 watt AirX with built in
charge controller for RVs, Sailboats, and Campsites.
ARE 110 is a rugged, 2.5kw machine for
$11,500. You can also add the $2,500 lightning protection option. A
nice feature if you are in a
lightning prone area. This adds protection to your system and it
extends the warranty to cover lightning damage.
ARE also offers
a number of Pipe based tip-up tower kits
ranging from 63' to 125' feet. These kits
can be used with a number of turbines including the Skystream, Whisper
series, ARE 110 and Eoltec Scirocco (see below)
A relative newcomer to the US Market, Eoltec makes the
impressive
Scirocco 6kw AC turbine. At $25,500 its a solid machine plus it's
special...
What's special about the Eoltec? It does not furl (tip out of very high
winds), instead, a simple
mechanical system changes the pitch of the blades to maintain constant
rotor velocity in high winds. Unlike most turbines, it's power curve is
flat above its rated speed. Power production does not drop in high
winds.
Also, this is one of the quietest turbines you'll find because its
maximum rotation speed is 245 rpm.
Bergey
The Bergey Excel is a 10kw turbine with lots of experience. It's been
around a long time and is a real-life tested design. All of the Bergey models are known for their reliability.
The Excel is $27,900and Bergey offers
a number of tower optionsincluding tip-up lattice, self
supporting lattice, and monopole.
Lightning protection is standard on all turbines. Only
ARE offers extended warranty for lightning. All towers are tip-up
guy-wire supported, tip-up monopole, or crane-hoist monopole.
Guy-wire towers
are pipe or lattice. Monopole towers
require one large (or deep) footing. Guy-wire towers require five
moderately sized footings (one center and four radial). The radial
footings are 20 to 40 feet from the center footing (depending on tower
height).
Skystream is a down-wind design. It faces away from the wind. The other
turbines pictured here are up-wind designs. They face into the wind.
